Stardew Valley’s 1.6 Update Has A New Way To Seriously Insult You

Summary

  • Emily’s Outfit Service in Stardew Valley can provide players with unexpected and funny wardrobe choices, including outfits from the Joja Mart.
  • Despite Emily’s bubbly personality, players are discovering that her fashion critiques can be a bit harsh and humorous at times.
  • Stardew Valley players looking to befriend Emily should consider gifting her items like Amethyst, Aquamarine, Cloth, Emerald, and Jade.

While Stardew Valley is known for being one of the most wholesome games possibly ever, players are learning that one Pelican Town resident can be a little harsh when it comes to critiquing fashion. One of the biggest new features added to the game in the recent 1.6 Update is the Desert Festival, a celebration that runs for three days and offers farmers all sorts of attractions to while away the hours. While most of it’s all in good fun, the community is quickly learning that Emily’s Outfit Service can be more than a little mean.

Posted to Reddit by TrundleLovesGhouls, the user shares how their trip to Emily’s Outfit Service, which provides players with clothes that suit their “inner look,” saw the NPC deck them out with Joja Mart threads.

I couldn’t be more appalled…” writes TrundleLovesGhouls, referencing the fact that the Joja corporation is widely regarded as the villain of Stardew Valley given that they’re looking to take over Pelican Town and destroy its idyllic way of life. Working for Joja Mart is considered the “evil” path through the game especially since the introduction sees the player character quitting their job at the company.

Aside from Emily recommending the awful uniform of Joja Mart to TrundleLovesGhouls, other Stardew Valley players have found the NPC’s outfits to be somewhat hilarious. The community shared anecdotes of Emily dressing their farmer like a rabbit, a UPS delivery driver, a police officer, and even Link from The Legend of Zelda. While many adore their new looks, just as many describe immediately ditching the new clothes as soon as they have the opportunity to do so.

Emily is one of Stardew Valley‘s quirkiest characters and serves as one of the NPCs players can date and marry during their time in Pelican Town. Her personality is warm and bubbly and she has a particular interest in making clothes and working with fabric, hence her involvement in the Outfit Service. Her sister is Hayley and she’s also great friends with Sandy, going so far as to visit the Calico desert whenever it’s the merchant’s birthday.

Stardew Valley‘s 1.6 Update did a lot of work on the game’s NPCs, adding plenty of new interactions for players to discover. Aside from Emily bullying farmers with what she deems suitable clothes, all characters now have custom responses to gifts, respond and react to events that have transpired in the world, and even change outfits when Winter rolls around. Whether developer ConcernedApe plans on adding any further features to the citizens of Pelican Town in future updates remains unknown.
